Myofascial Release

Fascia is the tissue that essentially hold us all together, surrounding all our muscle tissue, joints, organs and spinal cord.   Releasing the restricted areas of this this tissue allows more freedom of movement not only in that area but in all connecting places.

For this reason, I concentrate on what's not moving, not on what's painful!

Joint mobilization

Techniques that target the joint movements directly.  Very beneficial especially in the spine, hips and shoulders.

Stretching

Stretching is an integral part of maintaining body balance.  My focus is on allowing the fascia around the muscle and joints to have the best benefit of the stretch, so I teach prolonged postures for stretching that can be safely held for at least 2 minutes.  Nice part of that is you only have to do it once, no reps of 10!

Exercise/Stabilization

Once mobility has begun to increase, stabilizing the area is imparative.  I use a series of stabilization exercises to achieve this.  Plus, we are having conversation about what's best for you whether in the gym, or at home.

Cranialsacral therapy

The Central nervous system is housed in the brain and spinal cord. The occiput/skull and the sacral area are the two movable ends of that system.  Many issues I see are a  result of problems at either or both ends of this system.  This type of treatment addresses this system.

Health Chats

Alignment, mobility and strength are essential!

We also need to take care of ourselves at the cellular level.

Every cell in your body, regardless of type, needs vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, probiotics and essential proteins to function properly.  Without enough nutrients, cells cannot function optimally, leading to inflammation.  Inflammation, unchecked, leads to pain and dysfunction.   People often reach out for help with treatment and/or medications like NSAIDS for relief.   How happy would cells be if we feed them what they need every day?  My experience has seen great improvement in function and pain relief with nutritional support.

I am happy to schedule a HEALTH CHAT, free of charge, where we can look at your unique health needs and challenges and discuss possible resolutions.

ABOUT MY BACKGROUND

Physical Therapy degree 1986 Maryville University, St. Louis

Several certifications in manual therapy including:

  1. Myofascial release

  2. Massage

  3. Joint mobilization

  4. Stabilization techniques

  5. Craniosacral therapy

Over the last 30 years, I am happy to have had the opportinuty to expand my knowledge and experience.  The Physical Therapy base is wonderful, but was limited in Manual Therapy education.  After P.T. school, I had the good fortune to team up with several gifted people who taught me how to use my hands and senses to create a better balance in the body and it's functions.

Over time,  i noticed a good improvement with people I was unable to achieve before.  I also noticed that most clinic and P.T. based facilities were not set up to allow the time necessary to work in this manner.  So, I incorporated Hands for Health Inc in 1998 and have progressed to a full time status.

I am thoroughly enjoying the ability to help people in ways i was unable to before.

Learning never stops, and am always expanding my knowledge, but the main focus is always on getting people MOVING!

If my clients learn only a coupls things from me, it's everything is connected and you have to keep mobile and stable.  You have a responsibility to help yourself!
